It’s great to see you enjoying our facilities. We value your feedback, and take all comments, suggestions and complaints seriously.

To help you plan your visit we have provided some answers to the most common questions we get asked.

What's the pool temperature?
The Pirate Pool's water temperature is set at 29-30 degrees (°C). This is the recommended temperature for a Leisure Pool, as recommend by PWTAG (the Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group).

Recommended temperature ranges for different types and use of pool (°C):
• Competitive swimming and diving, fitness swimming, training 26-28
• Recreational swimming and adult teaching 27-29
• Leisure waters (Pirate Pool) 28-30
• Children’s teaching 29-31

What's the air temperature?
This is set to sit at 1 degree above the pool temperature (again, managed by the automated building management system). This maintains a satisfactory environment, with conditions essential for the comfort of bathers, lifeguards, staff and spectators.

Why does the Pirate Pool seem very expensive?
The rate is competitive against other facilities.

How often do you clean?
Cleanliness is paramount! We clean between each session hourly. Sometimes we can’t get into the cubicles as often as we’d like because they’re in use – when we can these are then cleaned thoroughly. Also, the whole area is cleaned daily after the pool is closed, ready for the following morning.

If you do notice an area that’s not as clean or tidy as you would like it, please tell a member of the team and we will endeavour to address the issue as soon as possible.

Can I use the pool as part of my membership?
Monthly or paid in full fitness, swimming or swimming lesson members get free use of the Pirate Pool.

Is the Pirate Pool suitable for all ages of children?
There are different activities for all, including for younger children. The water in the beach area begins with a shallow gradient into the pool, ideal for babies and toddlers. Toddlers can also enjoy the smaller slides. The Splash Pad is for slightly older children from the age of 4+. The flumes range from a fairly slow family flume to a Twister Flume which is fast. We have a wave machine too, which is fun for all ages.

What are the parental supervision rules?
To ensure everyone's safety we have a pool policy in place. All children under 4 years of age must be supervised by an adult on a ratio of 1:1, and you MUST also book under 4-year-olds spaces too. Children from 4-7 years can be supervised on a ratio of 2 per adult. If you have a child under 4 AND a child between 4-7, you will require 2 adults to supervise in the water.

Changing rooms will only be available 15 minutes before your session starts. Please don't arrive any earlier for your session.

When is the Splash Pad being added to the Pirate Pool?
This fantastic addition to the Pirate Pool should be open early March 2023. We’re waiting for the final delivery of parts. We’ll let you know the exact date when we have the final details.
